Associate Professor of Instruction / Practice in Finance

Job Description

The Jindal School of Management at The University of Texas at Dallas is seeking to fill a non-tenure-track faculty position. The appointment will be at the rank of Associate Professor of Instruction/Practice. This position will serve as Associate Director of the Master in Science in Financial Technology and Analytics program, as well as teaching both in undergraduate and graduate level courses in areas related to the application of digital technology to finance and financial services. Candidates will be expected to engage in service activities within the university and the profession. They are also expected to maintain the AACSB classification that they are hired under. The position is housed in the Finance area, and the appointment will be effective July 1, 2023. The position will remain open until filled.
Qualifications
Applicants must warrant appointment at a faculty rank consistent with their qualifications and accomplishments. Potential candidates must have a PhD and appropriate industry experience, ideally with a demonstrated record in teaching, and must demonstrate their commitment to excellence in teaching and service. All candidates are expected to work effectively in a highly collaborative, engaging, and dynamic environment comprised of individuals with a range of backgrounds, skills, and perspectives.

The Jindal School of Management (JSOM) (jindal.utdallas.edu) is the largest school within UT Dallas with an enrollment of more than 10,000 students, 21% of whom are minority students, 20% are international students, 45% are female and, among undergraduate students, 22% are first-time-in-college students (Fall 2020 numbers).
Based on publications in 24 top journals tracked by the UTD Top 100 Business School Research Rankings TM, JSOM ranks 5th in research productivity in North America during 2017-2021. Financial Times ranks our research productivity 10th worldwide (2022). U.S. News and World Report ranks our full-time MBA program #29 in Best Business Schools (2023). U.S. News and World Report (2022) ranks our online MBA program #9 in Best Online MBA Programs.
Faculty in the Finance area typically conduct research covering analytical, empirical, and optimization-based approaches applied to problems in finance.

Minimum Education and Experience Preferred Education and Experience

Must have a PhD in MIS, Finance degree or associated academic disciplines and experience managing an IT operation and a knowledge of databases, blockchain technologies, robotic processing, and machine learning. Someone with more than one year of experience teaching graduate students about database technology, blockchain technology, robotic processing. Experience teaching programming and machine learning are a plus.

Contribute assessment information and data as requested;
Mentor and/or advise undergraduate and/or graduate students;
Establish and/or continue an independent line of research;
Continue to expand professional influence in the academic discipline through research and/or publication;
Engage in service within the academic unit, the university, and the profession as appropriate based on teaching and research constraints;
Teach eight (8) classes each academic year.
