Job Description:

Adjunct Faculty, Mathematics, Gateway to College

Campus Location: multiple locations

Work schedule: consistent with MCCC contract

MCCC unit position. Grade: Instructor

The STEM and Business Division of North Shore Community College invites applications for a vacancy to teach mathematics in the Gateway to College Program at our campus in Lynn, MA.

The current opening is to teach MAT110 Mathematics Literacy. The course meets at 11:30am on Monday, Wednesday, Friday in the spring semester beginning January 29, 2024.

The successful candidate will also be considered for anticipated openings in future semesters, which may include different courses and offered at different campuses in the North Shore region.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Teach courses as assigned by the Division Dean.
  • Prepare course syllabi, proctor and grade course assessments as scheduled, report final student grades, and complete student alerts by the specified dates each semester.
  • Develop and apply assessment strategies that maximize the learning process and measure student learning outcomes
  • Attend required meetings which may be held virtually, at NSCC Campuses, or at high school sites.
  • Embrace the ideals of diversity and inclusiveness and support the equal rights of all people by advancing the understanding and appreciation of differences including age, race, gender, ability, religious convictions, socio-economic status, ethnic heritage, or sexual orientation.
  • Perform other duties as assigned consistent with the provisions of the collective bargaining agreement.

 

 


Requirements:

  • Masters Degree in Mathematics or related field to with graduate-level credit in the subject area.
  • Evidence of successful Teaching experience in higher education or high school. Community college teaching experience preferred.
  • Evidence of commitment to and experience working with a diverse student body
  • Candidates will be required to pass a CORI/SORI and/or National background check as a condition of employment.

PREFERENCES

  • Community College teaching experience
  • Experience with Blackboard or similar Learning Management System
  • Predisposition to working in a dynamic environment requiring flexibility, adaptability, and teamwork
  • Strong evidence of passionate commitment to striving for excellence in working with students and in responding to opportunities that extend the mission of the College
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills

 


Additional Information:

SALARY: Adjunct salaries are dependent upon the number of credit hours. This is a non-benefited, MCCC position.
