Sauk Valley Community College, a comprehensive community college located in a picturesque rural setting invites applications from innovative individuals for an Adjunct Faculty, Sonography Clinical Coordinator.

Located in rural northwestern Illinois, along the scenic Rock River, between the cities of Dixon and Sterling; the College is one hour from Rockford and the Quad Cities and two hours west of Chicago.

FUNCTION OF THE JOB :
Provide and coordinate educational services in the clinical setting to achieve equity of student clinical experience according to the established standards of the Sonography Program at Sauk Valley Community College.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Coordinate clinical education and instruct courses as assigned by the Program Coordinator.
  • Instrumental in the development and implementation of program goals, clinical objectives, and clinical evaluation systems.
  • Evaluate and facilitate clinical education effectiveness through a schedule of regular visits to the clinical education sites.
  • Facilitate and/or provide appropriate direct and indirect supervision of the students in a clinical setting.
  • Facilitate clinical competency evaluation system for students assigned to the clinical site.
  • Participate in continuing education to improve evaluation skills and maintain relative professional competence.
  • Meet regularly with program officials to maintain current documentation of students’ clinical progress.
  • Coordinate and maintain student clinical records, including confidentiality of all records in accordance with program policy.
  • Participate in meetings and serve on committees consistent with goals of the educational program.
  • Implement and/or assist in clinical rotations which allow students to achieve course objectives.
  • Establish standard methods for evaluation of student clinical performance and quality assurance.
  • Provide or facilitate student guidance and academic counseling as appropriate.
  • Recommend to the Coordinator policies and procedures designed to improve the quality of the Sonography program.
  • Hold membership in appropriate professional organizations; attend and participate in local, State, and national Sonography organizations, workshops, and seminars.
  • Attend meetings as needed by the Coordinator.
  • Assume all other reasonable professional duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Sonography Coordinator.

 


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :
  • Must be able to communicate by telephone on a daily basis.
  • Must be able to provide and understand verbal/visual orders from supervisor and to subordinates.
  • Must be able to operate computers.
  • Must have access to transportation to travel to various clinical sites located throughout the College District.
  • Must be physically able to lift up to 50 lbs. and be certified in CPR.

PERSONAL INTERACTION :
Frequent interaction and personal contact with health agencies, facilitators, the general public and outside organizations (usually the first line of communication). Daily contact with all levels of College personnel and students.

SUPERVISION EXERCISED :
None

REQUIREMENTS :
Associate’s degree required; bachelor’s degree is preferred. Must possess and maintain the appropriate credentials specific to the offered concentrations which are RDMS – AB, OB/GYN, and RVT.
Documented experience in supervision, instruction, evaluation, student guidance, and in educational theories and techniques is required with a minimum of two years of clinical experience as a registered sonographer in the professional sonography field.
