Program Specialist, Equity
100% Remote within California, Must reside in California
 
We are seeking a Program Specialist to join the Foundation in its mission of benefitting, supporting, and enhancing the California Community Colleges—the largest and most diverse system of higher education in the nation. What You’ll Do
 
The Program Specialist will serve as a member of the Foundation for California Community Colleges (Foundation) Equity department and has responsibility for components of projects and programming in the areas of basic needs (mental health, financial literacy, food insecurity, housing insecurity, digital equity, etc.) and supporting historically marginalized student populations. The current programming under this specialist role will contribute to the design and implementation of comprehensive outreach plans, student support programs, communities of practice, and other program or grant elements that align with grant deliverables focused on current and former foster youth.
 
The Program Specialist will also support or lead informational webinars, data tracking and analysis, development of outreach materials, and oversight of social media campaigns when applicable. Under the direction of the Sr. Manager, Equity, the program specialist’s primary role is to lead specific components of the assigned programming. The Specialist will be a pivotal position for project implementation, monitoring outcomes, stakeholder engagement, and other activities.
  • Work collaboratively with team members to develop, lead, and support programs or grant deliverables and initiatives.
  • Implement and track progress on project milestones and communicate any changes and resources needed to support implementation to other team members.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for the Equity department and Foundation surrounding the assigned programs and grants with an ability to step into meetings with high visibility partners and present to stakeholder groups.
  • Organize, attend, and contribute to internal and external meetings related to project activities including ongoing communication with program funder, other departments, Chancellor’s Office, and program partners.
  • Assisting in developing a strategic communication plan to increase awareness, knowledge, and capacities of college staff and community partners. This includes providing technical assistance and support statewide through facilitating regional calls with the colleges, identifying, and sharing best practices, and creating connections to other partners and resources.
  • Demonstrate initiative and creativity to develop and deliver presentations for students, educational leadership, faculty, administrators, staff, and other partners.
  • Responsible for capturing program outreach and activity data, maintaining accurate records of program activities.
 
Attributes for Success
  • Fundamental knowledge of California Community College System
  • Possess a strong commitment to serving underrepresented student populations.
  • Demonstrated writing and presentation skills required (written, presentation, and oral)
  • High proficiency of computer applications (Windows, Microsoft Office, and Excel) including word processing, spreadsheets, and record keeping; and general use of personal computers, printers, telephones, Internet, and electronic mail
  • Excellent complex program/project management activities, group facilitation, and technical skills, with an ability to prioritize tasks and deliver quality products within agreed upon timeframes, with limited supervision.
  • Ability to work remotely and navigate various technology platforms (Zoom, MS Office Suite-Teams, Outlook, Salesforce Lightning and other database programs, Google Suite, etc.)
