Adjunct Faculty Business Studies

POSITION DESCRIPTION
The College for Creative Studies (CCS) invites applications for adjunct faculty members to teach starting in the Winter of 2025. Experience teaching at the college or university level and experience with Canvas, teaching online, is absolutely essential.
The department is seeking faculty to teach:
Business Practices Online Hybrid Thursdays 8:30-11:15am
This course prepares students to function as professional artists and/or designers. It provides an introduction to contemporary business theories, trend analysis, and branding techniques and practices. You will learn and use basic project management principles, project costing models, and the elements of business plan design.
POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
This position is accountable to the Chair of Liberal Arts. Essential functions include:
- Teach and successfully deliver a maximum two sections per semester
- Prepare syllabus for the review of the Department Chair
- Complete all teaching as required by the College
- Complete training in Canvas and use it as required by the department and college
- Attend all Liberal Arts Department meetings and at least one professional development training course per year
- Deal promptly with all administrative responsibilities attached to this work
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- MFA with specialty relative to the course being taught or other Master’s degree with at least 18 graduate credit hours relative to course content being taught is normally required.
- However, candidates with significant, extensive, and relevant professional experience may also be considered — further details of CCS’s credentialing policy.
- Teaching experience at the college- or graduate-level is required.
- Successful candidates must be committed to working with diverse student and community populations.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
This job operates in a professional office and college campus environment. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to maintain a stationary position, use a computer and other office equipment, and communicate effectively in person, by phone, and virtually. Frequent interaction with others, including staff, faculty, students and third parties is required. The employee may occasionally be required to move files or other objects weighing up to 25 pounds, including from low and high places. The ability to move around within the office and between buildings on campus, attend off-site meetings and events, and travel between Ford Campus site to Taubman Center site are required. CCS will make reasonable accommodations that will allow individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
