Job Summary


 

Under general supervision of the Chief Human Resources Officer, the HR Specialist is responsible for completing a variety of tasks to support the daily operations of the HR department. The duties include recruiting, HR documents, coordinating competing priorities, and working with other members of the department to oversee the hiring and onboarding process for faculty, staff, and student employees.

Responsibilities

 

 

  • Support Employee Services functions (recruiting, hiring, employment, separation, leaves of absence).
  • Interpret college policies and procedures, and applicable statutes and regulations assist with maintenance of policies and procedures for general compliance operations.
  • Manage recruitment efforts for campus.
  • Work with BOR Well Being department; serve as AMSC liaison.
  • Work in collaboration with the Financial Aid office for the AMSC Federal Work Study program.
  • Oversee the campus Tuition Assistance Program for employees.
  • Coordinate special HR related projects as assigned.
  • Collaborate with University System of Georgia HR office as needed, related to appropriate employee relations and benefits.

Required Qualifications


 

Education: Associate degree required.

Experience: Three (3) year of work related experience.


 

Preferred Qualifications


 

Education: Bachelor's degree

Experience:

  • Experience in employee training experience, minimum of two (2) years
  • Experience in higher education

Proposed Salary


 

Pay rate $20.00/ hour; 15-19 hours per week

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

 

 

  • A high level of interpersonal and communication skills; presentations skills.
  • Must maintain confidentiality, sensitivity, and tact.
  • Experience with PeopleSoft HRIS.
  • Ability to work in a diverse environment
  • Knowledge of Microsoft office suite and effective manual and computerized recordkeeping systems and procedures.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
