Job Summary:
The Human Resource Assistant will support the Minot State University HR department by performing various tasks and services to support effective and efficient operations. This on-campus position provides high quality service and hands-on learning experience.
Hours:
- 15-19 hours per week, flexible schedule on campus
- Part-time, non-benefitted
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Responsible for supporting HR processes, procedures, and programs as needed and directed.
- Runs monthly queries, updates HRMS as needed.
- Communicates HR and Payroll-related information to employees, conducts research, and responds to requests for information.
- Maintains accurate and up-to-date human resource files, records, and documentation. Maintains the integrity and confidentiality of files and records.
- Onboarding of adjuncts, part-time employees, and student employees. Serves as a backup in onboarding benefited employees and benefit enrollments.
- Answers questions from applicants and employees relative to standard policies, benefits, hiring processes.
- Performs periodic audits of HR files and records to ensure that all required documents are collected and filed appropriately.
- May assist with annual processes, such as the1095-C, and Open Enrollment.
- Keeps the HR Director informed and updated on issues, projects, information, etc.
- Works on special projects as requested by the HR Director.
- Provides office coverage, answers telephone calls, responds to inquiries, and provides visitors with appropriate information.
- Supports innovation, creativity, and ideas to improve/enhance processes, functions, etc. in the department and for the college.
- Conducts or assists with new hire orientation.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential situations with tact, professionalism, and diplomacy.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
- Proficient with or the ability to quickly learn payroll management, human resource information system (HRIS), and similar computer applications.
Education and Experience:
- Associate’s degree in related field required. Other human resources experience/qualifications may be considered.
- Exceptional communication skills required.
- Prior human resources and/or payroll related experience preferred.
- PeopleSoft experience preferred.

- Continuously – 66-100% - Use hands dexterously, talk or hear.
- Frequently – 34-65% - Stand, walk, or sit.
- Occasionally – 1-33% - Reach with hands and arms, stoop/kneel/crouch, crawl, climb or balance, or lift to 25 pounds.
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
