Job Description
The Operations & Facilities Management Department at Washington University School of Medicine is committed to delivering a comprehensive range of services to support the medical campus.
We oversee maintenance and operations for 65 buildings, covering more than 11.1 million gross square feet of space. This includes the 11-story, 609,000-square-foot neuroscience research building, which houses one of the world’s highest concentrations of neuroscientists. Our responsibilities include operational and administrative support, strategic planning, and project management.
Furthermore, as the School of Medicine continues to expand its presence both on and off campus in areas such as teaching, clinical care, and research, our team remains instrumental in ensuring the seamless delivery of clinical care, advancing research initiatives, and facilitating educational endeavors.
Assists with enforcement of university policy/procedures. Patrols facilities and campus. Reports situations to the communications center. Receives calls for service from the communications center. Provides a variety of logistical and administrative tasks as needed to support the daily missions of the department.
Job Description
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
- Provides internal/external patrol for university properties reporting safety or security issues to Dispatch. Receives/compiles information for incident reports on minor, non-criminal incidents.
- Responds to situations and assists response personnel. Assists in investigations. Provides events support with block-offs, traffic direction and pedestrian safety.
- Conducts building checks which includes checking access control devices, door locks and looking for any possible safety or security issues. Reports any discrepancies to Dispatch. Conducts escort van operations and outdoor safety checks. Provides support to the Emergency Management for fire drills and assists with fire extinguisher and AED checks.
- Locks/unlocks doors to permit entry at appropriate times. Provides mail and package delivery daily for department. Performs other administrative duties as directed.
- Takes possession of found property, attempts to locate owner, and secures said property according to established policy.
- Provides backup and relief in the Communications Center as necessary.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

- Continuous movement throughout the Medical School Complex with need for flexible hours.
- Short notice schedule changes due to manpower needs.
- Ability to work in varying weather patterns.
- Response Officers/Bike Patrol Officers perform duties in the established uniform and primarily on foot.
- Officers assigned to the Bike Patrol or other special duty may be provided with a bicycle or motor vehicle.
- Ability to travel to various on- and off-campus locations.

- Occasional lifting (up to 50 lbs.).

Salary Range
$17.03 - $24.61 / Hourly
The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
